George Marechera

George Marechera holds an MBA from Wolverhampton University, UK, a BSc Honours in Economics degree from University of Zimbabwe, and several professional management qualifications. George has over 25 years’ experience in both the private and public sector in more than 27 countries across the globe. He has worked as a Managing Director, General Manager, Senior Economist and Economist and spearheaded the implementation of major projects financed by the European Union, World Bank, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Africa Development Bank (AfDB) and Japanese Aid. George has wide experience in the agriculture sector that includes strategic agri-business leadership and management, business strategy and models development and implementation, inclusive financing and market linkages, mechanisation and digital agriculture, gender mainstreaming and startup incubation. He has proven leadership skills in managing, developing and motivating teams. As Agri-business Specialist, George is responsible for coordinating and facilitating business initiatives between the AATF, agro-industry, smallholder farmers and all stakeholders in the agricultural industry to ensure appropriate knowledge is disseminated for effective and efficient service delivery. He is also the Managing Director of Agridrive Ltd, a social enterprise owned by AATF specializing in mechanisation and digital agriculture. George Marechera is a Zimbabwean national.
